i have a G55 with version 2.5 fimware.
yesterday theserial port appeared to have stopped working.
I tried to redownload the application it was running using the serial port,
but now i get the error warning saying: "verifying that the terminal is attached to serial port, has the same serial port settings and is and ready to accept a download. the settings are set both on the G-55 and computer to Port:Com1,Baud:9600,Format:8n1
how would you suggest trouble shooting this problem?

The obvious things to check would be to make sure the terminal is in download/development mode and is ready to download an application. Make sure you are plugged in to the correct com port on the PC. Make sure you have the correct cabling between the PC and terminal and that it is securely fastened.

If the above has all been verified, you could also set the G55's Feedback option to 'Com1+Disp' (which is set up in the Power on Setup,) and power on the unit while the Foundry download screen is up. In the Results text box you should see the text that shows up on the terminals display as it is sent across the com port. If you don't see the text you may want to try using a different serial device on the PC's com port and make sure it can communicate successfully.
