The most common connection path for TREQ devices is the following:

The Active-Sync settings for such a setup might look like this on the PC side. This is assuming you are using the COM1 port on the PC. Also be aware that in this setup you are not going to use the USB Connection option, make sure to uncheck it.

"Wait! But my new laptop does not have a serial port!". If this is the case, you will need to create a serial port on your laptop by using a SECOND usb-serial converter. This image depicts such a usage scenario:

This setup once again uses the same Active Sync settings as above. You may be asking, well then what IS the USB Connections checkbox for? Well, if you happened to have one of our WinCE G56/58 devices, then your setup scenario would look like this:

This is the scenario where you would want to check "Allow USB Connections" instead of "Allow connections to one of the following:" "COM1" etc.
