The 26 September 2006 release of the TREQ Windows CE OS image included Microsoft product updates/fixes from April-July 2006. One of these updates included the Windows CE .NET Compact Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1, which requires a corresponding update for Visual Studio 2005 on the host. Without this update, TREQ developers will be unable to set breakpoints in compact framework device applications. There may be other issues as well.

The Visual Studio 2005 update is available for download from Microsoft here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7befd787-9b5e-40c6-8d10-d3a43e5856b2&displaylang=en

Once the Visual Studio 2005 update is installed, the debugger should work again with the TREQ on the latest releases. This applies to all WinCE OS Images released on or after 26 September 2006.

TREQ Windows CE OS Image releases and corresponding SDKs are available on the following web site:

http://www.qsicorp.com/engfiles/treq.php

OS Images are prefixed with "TREQ_WinCE_Image"

SDKs are prefixed with "TREQ_SDK"

The TREQ OS image upgrade procedure is as follows for upgrading from an image older than 26Sep06 to 26Sep06:

    1. Download the latest image from:

    2. Unzip to a USB flash drive and insert the drive in the TREQ

    3. Remove the USB-to-serial converter (included in the TREQ developer's kit) if inserted

    4. Navigate to \Hard Disk2 in Windows Explorer

    5. Copy all the files from \Hard Disk2 to \Hard Disk, overwriting the existing versions

    6. Reboot: hold the power key down for 4 seconds until the unit turns off, then press again to boot

    7. Verify upgrade by pressing Start->Programs->QSI->WinVerCE. The project version should be 0.27.
