I want to poll an ethernetserverV2 component to see if it has established a connection with the other computer sending the data. I was planning on using a timer component that on every time expire, it would do the call.

What's the best way to do this?

If you are using the EthernetServerV2 object on the Qlarity side, then you need to have code in the DataRecieved event to send back a reply when a particular packet is received from the other device. The code in the EthernetServerV2 might look something like this:

Code:
func datareceived(channel as comm, data[] as byte, ipaddr[] as byte, foreignport as integer)
    if find(data, 0, -1, "ABCDEFG") >= 0 then
        senddata(channel, "ABCDEFG Recieved\r\n")
    endif
endfunc
