is there a way, I can change the softkey's caption when a program is running?

Yes, there are a couple of ways to do this.

The easiest way is by position. See the following example. "skb" is the name of the SoftKeyBar object that hosts the softkey in question. The keys are zero indexed from the left.

Alternatively you can directly set the caption in the softkey object. To do so, you will need to know the name of the key object. You can discover this by going Tools->Settings->Editor->Show Advanced... This will enable you to view the "Internal" branch of the object tree where softkey objects are stored.

func handleKeyPress()
'Setting by position
skb.softKeyList[0].value = "hello"

'Setting by key object
sk_asdf.value = "Goodbye"
endfunc
