I am using a G70 terminal and need to have the ability for the terminal to "reboot" as on startup the terminal downloads a large amount of data from a remote server. When the information is changed on the server, I need the user to be able to restart the terminal with out having to reach around back and pull the power. I believe that the softreset(reset_normal) should take care of this. However, when the command is run, the system simply powers down but does not restart. It then requires the power to be turned off/on to be restored to normal operation.

Perhaps I am using this command incorrectly, but how should I go about having a button the user can press to restart the terminal.

Thanks,

SoftReset(RESEST_NORMAL) should perform a full reset of the unit. The G70 does not have a power off state.

I don't think this will make a difference, but can you try a trivial application? (i.e. an empty workspace with just a button that calls SoftReset in its click event)

I think this may be a hardware issue. If you trivial app doesn't work, you should probably get an RMA (http://www.qsicorp.com/support/contact/rma_request.php) and send the unit in.

If the trivial app works, you may still want to send it it, but let me know if it does since if you send it in we will want an easy way to duplicate the problem.
