I'm having trouble downloading my application using the ethernet tab in the Download application to unit window.
First, I am able to ping the terminal from a command prompt.
The download window comes up with a "Ethernet Download (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)" window that initially has the message:
"Terminal not ready for application download. Please prepare terminal for download."
and transitions to the message:
"Waiting for terminal response. Please attach terminal to network."
message and nothing else happens.

I've also tried initiating the download with both the terminal already plugged in and plugging in the terminal after the download window has started. It doesn't work either way...

I have a G55 terminal with POE option. I can program fine using serial but need to be able to do this over ethernet. I'm using Qlarity Foundry 2.50.
Thanks.

Things you may want to check:

  • Is the G55 ready to accept an application? (Does it display "Download application?")
  • When the G55 is ready to accept the application are you able to ping it?
  • If you have a personal firewall on your PC, do its rules allow Qlarity Foundry to communicate?
  • If you any type of firewall, will it pass packets on UDP port 69?

Try checking each of these questions in order. If you can answer yes to all of them, let us know so we can try to figure out what is going on.

Jeremy -
Thanks for the quick response.

The answers to your questions are:
>Is the G55 ready to accept an application? (Does it display "Download application?")
No, the current application just keeps on running. Do I need to do something to make it ready? (i.e.: power down/up, hold 3 keys on power up, etc...)

>When the G55 is ready to accept the application are you able to ping it?
Don't know cause can't get it ready to accept application.

>If you have a personal firewall on your PC, do its rules allow Qlarity Foundry to communicate?
Yes.

>If you any type of firewall, will it pass packets on UDP port 69?
Yes.

TIA.

Yes, just like a serial download, you need to go into power on Setup (remove power from the unit, press and hold 3 buttons, apply power to the unit) and set the application mode to either Develop or Download. Then exit Power On Setup, this will bring up the download prompt.

Yes, use TFTP. It is built into all versions of Windows starting with Win2k. It is available in most Linux distributions as well.

Simply upload the BFF file to the unit when it is in download mode.
