A TTF font is a scalable font allowing for a settable point size. A BDF font is a non-scalable font that allows for displaying of characters without computation.

TTF fonts can take 10-20 times longer to redraw than BDF fonts on Qlarity-based terminals. Any text that is changed at run-time should use BDF if possible for the best possible performance. You can find numerous BDF fonts included with Qlarity Foundry in a directory called "bdf fonts".

If your caption is static and non-changing then TTF fonts do not take longer than BDF to display because the rendering is cached in memory.
