How should I clean my touchscreen?

Below is a few details on the use and durability of our touch screens:

Touch Screen Keypads Expectations and General Usage

Deriving at how long a touch screen “should” last under normal operating conditions is difficult. At QSI we environmental test humidity per MIL 810, storage of -40-85 degrees C, life cycle to 1 million (or more), as well as ITO durability, light transmission and glass breakage.

Cosmetically, a touchscreen can become unsatisfactory in as little as three months to ten years depending on the how it is used. A few of the factors that can shorten life are as follows:

1. The use of an eraser on a pencil or a pen as an actuator.
2. Cleanliness of the environment.
3. Incorrect cleaning.

The largest factor is abrasion; any way to lessen the impact of abrasion should be taken. A soft cloth and mild cleaning solution for example should be used along with an appropriate non-metallic stylus specifically designed for touch screen use if needed.

An option to extend the touch screens life may be the use of one of our touch screen protectors. These protectors are basically an additional layer which can be removed leaving a new surface below. The touch screen protectors however should only be used with new touch screens as any flaws will be highlighted. Care should also be taken to assemble it correctly for optimum clarity.
